Diplomat ADP8132 Door – broken spring?

I opened the door of the dishwasher this morning, there was metallic noise and suddenly the door was no longer counterbalanced. This means if you are not careful the door drops open. Is the counterbalance a spring and if so is it likely to need reattached or to be replaced? I’ve searched a few spares sites and no one seems to have such a thing. If it can be repaired or replaced how do I gain access to it?

Springs do break – p/no 895090535 – spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk will be able to get them for you if required. I’d drag it out and get the side panels off first though, and just see what has actually happened.

Thanks for the advice. I “dragged it out” as you suggested (which is no mean feat in itself) and the springs were fine. The problem is that the lever on the left hand hinge that the spring attaches to has sheared. Can you let me know the part number of the left hand hinge?
