We have recently moved into a new house and we have a Diplomat ADP8224 dishwasher installed in the kitchen. Unfortunately the previous owners did not leave an instruction manual. Is it possible to get 😕 hold of one of these? The reason for asking is that we keep getting an error message E2 and the water does not always completely drain away from the bottom of the machine and I was wondering if the two problems were related.

    Thanks

    Fiona,

Try ‘resetting’ the machine first to hopefully clear the Error Code as follows:-

Firstly switch the power off on the control panel. Then hold down the programme button while switching the power back on. A single bleep should be heard. Any gremlins should now be banished.

    Hope that helps 🙂

    Hi Martin

Thanks for the speedy response, I have reset the machine as you suggested but it is still giving me an E2 code a short time into the cycle.

Do I need an engineer? Is so can you recommend anyone in me ME poscode area.

    Thanks

    Fiona

It would seem so yes. E2 is a notoriously difficult fault to sort unfortunately, it could be one of many problems, but to the person with the correct tech info, it should be airly easily sorted for you.

Depends which ME code, in the directories here, Cutchey repairs cover ME2 only, you could try them, the menu is over to the left there.

    Hello Fiona, Martin and Dave

I too have bought a house with a Diplomat ADP8224, that does not work!

I do have an owner manual, and can e-mail it to Fiona if you would like it.
It says “Alarm E2” is not used on this appliance – so not much help to you.

My panel says E3 – “The dishwasher is not able to heat the washing water correctly. To establish the cause of the fault call an After-Sales Service.”

So far someone has changed the heating element, that made no difference. Any other suggestions?

I cannot trace the manufacturer, as the manual just gives a phone number of 0345 959722, and that prefix has long since gone. Can anyone put me in touch with the manufacturer, or where to look up an approved repair firm on the Isle of Wight, please?

The machine is sold by MFI in the UK.

You can contact them on 0845 7959 722

There’s a few things that could cause the error, heater, stats or even the timer/PCB itself.

    Hope that helps.

The number has changed to 08457 959722, I’m sure one of their agents will cover the IOW 😀

    Thanks Kwatt and Dave

Iwill try the service number that Dave gave. Who is manufacturer? The only mention on the internet that I can find is Danby Products Ltd of Ontario. But the model number of this fully integrated dishwasher does come up under brands of Whirlpool and Hygena.

I have found QER (Quality Electronic Repairs) athttp://www.qer.biz/servReps.htm who appear to offer a comprehensive service for repair or exchange of controls. But is it beyond my basic DIY skills, or unwise, to take out the component without the technical manual?

I think MFI would be better on supply than on repair of this six year old machine, but thank you for this suggestion that I will follow if I get stuck.

    Hi Oliver,

That paricular machine is manufactured for MFI by Smeg from memory but it is exclusive to MFI, many maufacturers do that sort of thing and often customers are totally oblivious to what they are actually buying. The only manufacturer that I know of that does not buy in and rebadge appliances for certain is Meile for the UK market.

You will not be able to get a service manual for the appliance as we are not allowed to release them as a general rule and that’s if they’re available! For the vast majority of appliances it comes down to knowing what you’re doing with them and maybe a fault code list, if we’re lucky, in the trade never mind to the general public. What we do get is a composite diagram with a list of spares used, beyond that it comes down to the engineer’s diagnostic skills and experience on the product.

But with an E2 error on one of these I would very much doubt that it’s the PCB, experience tells me differently. 😉

    Re: Diplomat ADP8224

We’ve got an instruction manual for a diplomat 8234, but there’s no explanation of what the error messages mean. So I’d stop looking for one if I were you. Sorry I can’t help more. I’m looking for a motherboard for ours (after only 6 months).
