ParticipantCan anyone help or advise me with this? I keep getting error code E3 on this machine, which I understand indicates a heating problem. I have replaced the bottom thermostat to no avail, and then the heater element. Still no luck, the machine is not heating. I don’t want to carry on buying and replacing parts until I happen upon the right one so does anyone have any suggestions what else might be causing the problem?
Thanks in anticipation.

Same error codes if memory serves me…

Most common cause would be a duff heater which is here:

Or possibly one of the stats, but you’d have to check it.

Thanks for the quick response, but as I said in my initial post, I have already replaced the Heater Element and the Thermostat fitted to the bottom of the machine so need some guidance as to what else might be the problem.

Wiring would be my first guess.
Did you check the old spares to see if they were faulty?
The PCB is reporting a heating error so it’s probably a fair bet that it’s okay unless you can prove that the heater and stats are all in circuit and working as they should.
That sounds confusing when I read it back, but if you need to eliminate the things that could be a problem and preventing the board from “seeing” the components that are causing or could cause an error to be reported.
I hope that’s clear.

Hi again. No I didn’t check the old spares to see if they were faulty, but I am assuming that the new parts are working and have connected them exactly the way the old ones were. I ordered the Thermostat from you as an engineer who called said that it was likely to be the problem, however after several phone calls and about 3 months trying to get him to come back I decided to try and repair it myself. The new Stat has only 3 connectors whereas the old one had 4 two of which were only linked to each other. Your spares dept. advised me that the new one was linked internally so did’nt need the fourth connector. The only thing now is that I have a ‘spare’ connector on the new stat which is not connected to anything. Could this be the problem? and if so what should it be connected to? Could it be the other Stat that is fitted in the door?

Hi there again.
I’ve checked the wiring harness and it all appears to be in good order. I’ve tested for power at the Heater and Stat too with a phase tester and there appears to be power getting to these. When I ran a cycle to try it again the machine kept running for about 3 hrs (still with no heat) until I gave up on it and switched it off. It now seems to keep running rather than follow a cycle. Whereas previously it went through a cycle, didn’t heat and gave error E3.
I found another engineer today, but he wanted £45 call out fee then £18 per hour plus parts so I decided not to use him.January 9, 2012 at 9:10 pm #366713MMK

Further attempt today! Ran the machine through Programme 3 (Rapid) this took about 3 hrs to complete, water was warmish (not hot) and got E3 Code at finish>
