Diplomat ADP8234 error code E9

Has anyone any ideas as to where this fault lies? The machine goes through the pre wash cycle, filling and draining as expected, but will not progress on to the main selected wash cycle. I have pointers on codes E1 to E6, but no further. I have tried with the timer on/off and it does not differ. Any thoughts would be welcomed.

E9 is pretty much the same as E2. The pressure system is blocked, try cleaning the tube behind the flap in the sump under the filter. If this does not work, the pressure chamber will need changing. An engineers job.

True Mark, but it’s not a nice one is E9. 😉

It could also be a faulty wash pump as well as a couple of tother little nasties as well. 😕

Then there’s the fact that on the 3 and 5 button earlier timers it’s not an alarm at all but a test program..

Lovely stuff, don’t we all just love fault codes?

Thanks Mark for the tip. I have cleaned the tube/flap area, which was pretty gunged up. The machine has now done about half a dozen complete wash cycles and appears to be back to normal. Tried to explain to the missus about the importance of keeping her sump and flap area clean. Didn’t take it to well………..!

Having made further enquiries this week, I have found that the Hotpoint BF72 is a very similar machine. The BF72 is a 5 button program machine whereas the ADP8234 only has 3 buttons. Hotpoint manual gives error codes 1-9. Error code 9 is pressure switch fault. I took off the R/H side panel & found the bottom of the air break chamber sludged up. I took the chamber off the machine(only held on with 2 screws & large plastic ring) & cleaned it out with hot water quite easily. I also cleaned out the link pipe into the sump. Put it all back together & it works fine.

PS Dont you just hate getting integrated machines out & in!! (especially when the floor tiles stop in front of the feet)

Well done; eastlmark’s post was correct, although kwatt’s comment is perfectly valid.

Kitchen fitters rarely stop to consider the consequences of how they install an appliance – it drives all of us bonkers.

any of you boys back from work yet?
I’ve spent the best art of today going through your info on the diplomat E2 faults. Is the hole on the Lhs of the sump the one that goes to the side fill chamber that seems to give most of the trouble?

It certainly is – a thorough rodding out with a tie-rap usually does the trick; a long skinny bottle brush is even better.

Had to take the bull by the horns and attack the side fill chamber. It was badly clogged. A good clean and a wash cycle later all seems to be well. Appart from the broken plastic lug that’s ment to hold the door catch in place. Any ideas of a glue that will cope with the 70+ temp, Araldite is only rated to 65 so I don’t expect it to last
