    Hi,

My dishwasher’s first three lights are flashing and the last light is static, so I tried to perform a reset, as per the instructions in these forums. I turned the power off for ten seconds, then powered up and pressed the program button four times in quick succession. When I do this the last two lights come on, but the forums seem to suggest it should be the first and the last lights coming on that show that the reset has worked. Please can someone clarify? I have tried following the rest of the instructions for the reset but it always fails after about three minutes.

    Am I doing it right?

Thanks in anticipation for any help you can offer!

You probably are “doing it right”. However, fault codes and reset procedures are not a magic bullet as far as computerised machines are concerned. They are fine in certain circumstances, but if there is an underlying corruption issue, a simple reset procedure will not solve the problem.

Your machine is made by SMEG. A read of THIS article may clarify things.

Not always a simple solution, I’m afraid. What is it that your machine actually does? All programmes start with a drain sequence, before getting into fill and circulation.

Thanks Penguin45 – appreciate you replying.

The machine is just going through the drain sequence for about 3 minutes, then emits a long beep and stops. The dishes are not wet, and the dispenser has not opened.

A couple of weeks ago the machine was experiencing the problem where it was not stopping, and the water was not getting hot. We called an engineer and he identified a leak and reasealed it. This is the first time we have tried the machine since he did this 4 days ago.
