ParticipantI would appreciate some guidance on resolving a problem i’ve got with my Diplomat ADP8322.
I think it may be something to do with the Anti-Flooding switch only don’t know how to go about investigating this.
The dishwasher stopped mid-cycle after a new type of tablet 4in1 was used. Now it attempt to start a programme but stops, just when you would expect the rotor arms to kick in and spray the inside of the machine.
I have read this may be an E1 error, although cannot locate any further information on this.
Any help would be geratly appreciated

E1 applies to SMEG built appliances, yours is a Whirlpool. If you open the door when it stalls and have a look at the start lamp, it may well be flashing in a pattern, ie 1-2-3-4-pause-repeat. This is an error code, which we may well be able to interpret for you.
If the flood protection system had been activated, you would hear the drain pump running continuously.
Post back with a bit more info and we’ll see what we can do.

Many thanks for the prompt response
I have just attempted to re-start the machine, its just stops no bleeps, no nothing following the part where the machine fills, before the rotor arms would normally kick in to start the washing cycle.
There are no flashing lights, the start light is on continuously (no flashing).
Really puzzled

Flooded base and Askoll circulating pump??
You need to remove the plate under the door (on the front of the machine at the very bottom, held on by 4 torx screws).
See if it’s full of water and look in to the rear right, does it have a large black pump?
If it is flooded and the pump is black with the power connector in the water, you’ll need a new circulation pump and motor.DP

ParticipantThanks DP
before i start removing bits – It is possible to drain the water from the machine by selecting a different programme, although the programme will stop when the bottom of machine fills up – funnily enough if left the water will even heat up ?
Do you still think it is the same thing

Not convinced there is water in the bottom of the machine.
I know it’s far from technical, although the bottom of the machine sounds hollow when tapped and there is no sound of water moving around if i shift the machine about
Any other ideas ?

DP means the tray under the appliance – you can get rid of water in the machine itself by holding down the start button for about 5 seconds. The drain pump will cut in and the programme will cancel.
It does sound like a no-circulation problem as the machine knows that water is present as it’s putting the heater on.

ParticipantThanks Penguin45
If it is a circulation problem does that mean a new motor

ParticipantThe plot thickens
I’ve managed to get the tray under the applicance off and it’s bone dry in there.
Really confused now – Any ideas welcome

Ok, so you’re not looking for a leak 😀 . As DP said, we’re now looking at the circulation motor. If this is a great big black plastic lump, this is the infamous “Askoll” pump and the only service work that can be performed on it is replacement.
P/no for the replacement is 4812 361 58334, about £85 from memory, plus the VAT etc.
Power off before sticking fingers in……..

An email to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk will get you a competative price compared to the on-line specialists.
We ought to stick this one in the shop@ function – it pops up often enough!
Good luck with it,
