ParticipantI’ve inherited a diplomat ADP8322 and the upper spray arm has stopped rotating. The tablets are also not disolving during a cycle, presumably because the upper spray arm isn’t doing its thing.
I’ve checked for blockages in the spray arm, also checked the filters and the water supply into the machine seems to be normal. The bottom spray arm seems to be working fine.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

i would guess that the wash pump motor is nto pumping hard enough to send the water to the upper spray arm, this should be obvios if you open the door in the middle of a wash you should get a fair amount of water landing on the floor if the machine is fitted with a”big askoll pump” it is a common fault and is well documented on this website. plug out if you are having a look.

Info in the “Big Askoll” pump HERE.
Even more common problem is the feed pipe to the top rotor becoming disconnected. Check behind the bottom rotor.

Thanks for your replies.
When the problem first emerged I checked the feed pipe and it was disconnected but after re-connecting the issue still remained (i.e. upper spray arm still not rotating.
Is it possible that the feed pipe needs replacing (nothing obvious to my eye to suggest this)?
If I am looking at pump fault (and yes there is a fair amount of water on the floor of the dishwasher if you open mid cycle), what is the success rate/life span of the dishwasher after installing a new pump?

Put it this way – I have never returned to a Whirlpool dishwasher for pump problems after changing to the new style pump. Other problems can and do arise, but you’ll never touch the pump again.

Hi
Is there seeds or scrp in the top spray arm ?Have you taken it off and cleaned it ?
If the filter hasnt been replaced correctly this will allow rubbish to block the jet holes in the paddles.

Use the search function above and search for 481241818341
There are about 5 posts with this part number, read them all as they probably have the same fault that you have.

i would replace the spary arm and tougue , i,ve had a few where it don,t turn anfd is no reason to explain it other than the old arm is naff hehe
also if the feed pipe at bottom as come out no good pushing back in the clips holding it it will be broken and it will keep comming out , u will need to replace the cover that holds it in place.
I never had a motor cause just the top spray arm not to turn while bottom arm is wizzing around at full speed. i personal would only change motor if u was getting strange noises or if i was getting black bits appearing in the water.
motor is costly to replace but they are common problems on these machines -
