ParticipantHi all,
Machine works perfectly except its started a whine when the dishwasher arms are spinning (not on drain or other time). I replaced the wash motor with a new one but the whine is still there?! It sounds like a bearing on a wash motor but its not that as the motor was replaced. When I take the lower wash arm out and let the machine run (so its not under pressure) there is no noise. I’ve replaced the lower arm with a spare but still get the same noise?!
A bit lost if anyone can chime in?? Id be grateful
Thanks

ParticipantIn order:
1. Jammed the bottom one – noise still there
2. Jammed the upper/middle one – noise still there
3. Jammed top one noise still thereThen I removed the base one and the noise is gone?!
HOWEVER, once the washer got heated to the 65c setting I tried the above again but this time when I removed both the bottom and middle arms the squeal (although less) was still there!?
Today I replaced the main wash pump and the heater, wash pump replaced as thought it was the bearings causing the whine. The heater was replaced but in the end I found a cut wire in the wiring loom, however, rather than replacing the new heater back for the old one I kept it installed.
Thanks

ParticipantSomething caught in the sump with water passing over it e.g. a wedged piece of plastic and milk bottle foil top. Also check the elbow black hose that goes from the sump through the heater and the thinner hose from the motor to the sump most likely the problem will be somewhere there. Have a look with a torch via the sump entrace/exit hole nozzles before removing the wash motor as you really want to avoid taking that off due to refiiting and now a new problem of a hose leak.

ParticipantThe bottom wash blade`s support area/underneath it. It is called a sieve filter. Anyway if you go to Partmaster spares and type in their part ref number 1110830pm you should get a picture on the part i`m on about. Could well be something jammed around that area. I based it on 1 of the 4 versions under ADP8322 (its really a whirlpool) your actual model version is the long number beginning with 85…….ending with a possible 5811 and that is the one I choose at random of the 4 listed the 3 other versions are PROBABLY the same but if you need to buy it you make sure you check if your 85 number on your machine is different..

ParticipantThanks Andy and Electro. for the replies
Andy did as you suggested and removed the connections to the sump and checked all that including the sieve filter and nothing in there or loose.
I disconnected the pressure switch as well, shone a torch through and the black rubber elbow heater connection but nothing at all loose, broken or wedged in there…The sieve filter is also clean as is the spray arm inlet tube..
I’m now more intrigued as to the issue..! The dishwasher does work apart from the whine…

ParticipantHmm. Like you I`m now at a bit of loss as to what it is to be honest. Have a look in this pipe the best you can when it is removed: https://www.partmaster.co.uk/spray-arm-water-inlet-tube/product.pl?pid=1071194&query=dIPLOMAT+ADP8322

ParticipantThink it’s sorted now, it seemed to be the inlet tube sitting in the sieve filter housing, slight crack on holder, very hard to see. I glued it in place with a plastic splint, and no noise! However after about 15 mins or so the water got hot and the noise came back so removed the bottom arm and the noise goes away…so think under pressure the issue seems to reappear as the holder given way.
Thanks again for taking the time to reply.

ParticipantJust an update- replaced the sieve cover and the noise is still there! Going to live with it I guess as the machine works perfectly 🙂
Would have good to get to the bottom of it just for knowledge!
Thks
