ParticipantHi, I have a build in Diplomat ADP8332 dishwasher that was installed a couple of years ago. We rarely use the machine (I’d say it’s been used about 10 times in total). We had a party last night and towards the end of the night we filled it and set it to go. We didn’t pay any attention to the dishwasher and an hour or so later we opened it up (the usual amount of steam was present!) and emptied it. I noticed the dishes were not particularly ‘gleaming’ but we filled it to do the second load of dishes. However, we then discovered that the power had gone off and there was no display (no error codes). The fuse had not gone in the remote socket (I swapped it with the washing machine fuse to double check). The dishwasher had done this in the past though and the power just came back on by itself! And I thought it had maybe slightly over heated and would just reset itself. When I checked again this morning it is still the same and there was a couple of inches of dirty water sitting in the bottom. I have drained the water, cleaned all the filters and put it back together, to no avail. Although the fuse is fine, there’s still no power and no display on the machine. I’ve read over a lot of the forums, but can’t really find a similar issue and as I can’t see an error code I’m a bit stuck! My feeling is that it may be the drain pump, but can’t turn the thing on to check this! Any advise or help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers…

Is there power at that wall socket?

Hi Simon, Yeah. It’s not a ‘normal’ plug, but a remote socket. Power is fine at that (red light is on) and fuse is fine. I think the power supply is all okay (my mate is an electrician and he checked the power the last time this happened).

If the machine is pulled out to check the power, just lean it back and see if water runs out of the tray underneath.
Power off for this little exercise.

Hi Penguin, The dishwater is built in, so can’t pull it out or lean it back. Would water in the tray underneath cause the machine to ‘power off’? When I take the kick-board off to reveal the bottom metal plate of the machine it is fixed with strangely shaped screws so can’t undo them (not flat or +). Is there any way that I’d be able to see if there was water in the tray underneath (there’s no leaks on the floor btw).

“Torx” fittings……. Most DIY places sell a kit of bits with a handle for £5. The base plate is the tray.
Thinking about what you have said, if it is remotely switched above the work surface, you must have a cable plate behind the machine, so one way or another, you’re going to have to drag it out. I had one burnt-out just last week.
The reason for asking about water underneath is that there is an endemic problem with the circulation motor leaking, causing water to be thrown everywhere – the resulting short circuits can (and do) blow the computer.

Ahhh Torx fixings… If I’d know that I could have asked santa bring me a set of drivers!!!
I read some of the other posts about the circulation motor leaking and what you say about the water blowing the computer makes sense. So is it likely that I will have a burnt out cable plate and a blown computer and also I’ll need to replace the faulty circulation motor?
I suppose you do get what you pay for, but I expected even a cheap dishwasher to last more than 10 cycles!!!
If I get the machine out and there’s water in the tray I take it that means there’s is a leak caused by the circulation motor? Also, will it be pretty obvious if the cable plate has blown?
Is this looking like it may be wiser to get a new (better) machine?
Cheers,
D.

The cable plate is on the wall – it replaces the plug. If it’s dead, the d/w itself is probably OK.
As for the tray, it’s conjecture at the moment – you will have to look, or get some help.

Hi, sorry, I think I understand now… There will be a remote socket above the work top (which is fine) but also a cable plate on the wall behind the machine (which may have blown)? I’ll pull out the machine and have a check at some point after Christmas and post back then. Thanks for your help.
