ParticipantThis one i have been out twice for flooded base and polystyrene float lifted showing FA. have sat thru cycle no sign of leaks anywhere although residue when base dried out is white and salt never used. However the drain spigot is situated underwater because the sink waste plumbing has a slight uphill run to the outside wall and the appliance fills slightly when drain is finished just a centimetre over the filter. Drain hose has a high run to sink level height then comes down to spigot. Is it a possibility that the machine may be backsyphoning soapy water back into it from the sink plumbing as there is no non return flap valve fitted on this pump?
Have replaced the water level control diaphragm in the sump.
So should the spigot be above the waterline in the trap? 😕Regards

SimonThat would certainly eliminate any backflow 😉
Worth filling the sink bowl then pulling the plug out to let it drain might also show up any backflow?
If at the end of the drain cycle the water is above the filter then there must be a restriction or backflow somewhere, i doubt whether it would be able to dry things thoroughly with that source of humidity in there 😉
Can you manage to loop the drain hose up under draining board level?

Thanks Clive.
A little Water left in drain hose after pump out is returned to sump after emptying is finished. What i have done now is connected it to the sink overflow spigot with a non return flap in the 1/2 bowl(very high and clear of water) as a test for cust to try. it fails after 10 mins according to cust which is the end of the rinse cycle and start of the main wash fill. Drain hose is high at draining board level.
Customer has installed his own uphill waste plumbing :rolls: . Washer is connected to same.S.

Hmmm…by the sound of it, if it has successfully drained the initial rinse it must be an overfill problem? IIRC these machines have a clear hose each side at the front to drain an overfill into the base…there’s usually a tiny residue up these pipes that can be seen through the pipe walls showing if it has overflowed.
If it’s an overfill then we could be looking at flowmeter probs or even pcb? In cases like this the only solution i would suggest is to allow time for the call and run it until you see the fault…at least that way you’ll know exactly where in the sequence the failure happens. Just a thought…what detergent are they using…it’s not foaming over is it?

Sat with it 3 hours in total watching base. Dry. Using fairy active bursts no rinse aid. My theory is that it fills then the Drain hose backfills extra after finishing fill cycle with the detergent /washing up liquid in the uphill waste plumbing. Clear pipes are clean but white powdery deposit in base no food particles.

If it was an overfill (for whatever reason) then the white deposit would be inside the clear overflow pipes too? Besides it would take really quite a lot of washing up water to cause an overflow IMO, (like two or three pints maybe) …don’t forget it will be extremely diluted washing up liquid in the water?
At least moving the drain out will completely eliminate that problem 😀
Understand the frustration though…lost count of the number of times i’ve heard ‘but it always goes wrong when i do it’ from the customer 😆
I’d still say hang in there and witness the fault 😉

😀 😀 😀
It is working and no level above filter detected.
Backfill it must have been.S.
