ParticipantGood afternoon all,
As an inexperienced oven engineer, I wonder if anyone can assist with a problem relating to the above grill fault?
I have renewed the twin grill element, as the outer section had failed.
However, I cannot get the inner section to work as their is no power being supplied to it.
Having had a look at the switch assemblies, I would appreciate it if someone can let me know if their is a regulator that may be faulty?
If so, whereabouts is it located in order for me to test its function?
Thank you in anticipation.

Was the inner section working before you fitted the new one

Good afternoon Andy,
I don’t think either were working.
The customer said the grill had been working “below par” for several weeks.
I should have checked rather than hoping new element would solve problem/s completely!

The outer section is for the oven, the inner section is for the grill.
The inner section will only work with the door open.
Did you have the door open to test.

Hello Bob,
Yes, the door was open when checking element operation.
You have raised a very good point regarding the function of the inner and outer element sections.
There was/is some confusion over the control switch operations, due to the customer being unsure, and no handbook available.
I will return and make sure we are actually setting the controls correctly, although did try them in several positions.
I’m beginning to suspect the switch, and will carry out further tests, unless you know of any other possible cause.
Many thanks,
jonty

It may be the thermal cut out for the Grill open circuit.

Good morning,
I’ve ascertained that there are two thermal cut outs – one pre set @ 48 degrees, the other 180 degrees.
Can I assume the lower temp’ cut out is used for the grill?
Best wishes,
jonty

Yes it should be the 48 degree cut out stat for the Grill but you can double check as it is normally marked on the stat

Good evening,
Have fitted the above TOC this afternoon, yet fault remains.
However, the new TOC is giving an infinity Ohms resistance reading on my multimeter, as is the original.
I expect a 0.2 to 0.4 reading usually, so wondering if new part is faulty?
Any thoughts?

I don’t think your problem is associated with the TOC, Do you get the neon on when the grill is turned on and also is the timer working ? According to the drawing the 48 stat is for the cooling fan and you should have 2 x 180 stats, one for each oven.
PM you email address
