I have noticed recently that my oven has been seriously melting the black plastic containers that ready meals come in. I thought at first it must just be due to it being a fan oven and the trays not being able to handle the heat.

However I have recently made an effort to turn the heat right down to 150 or lower and they are still melting. The food is getting burnt too.

I am therefore assuming that the thermostat is not working – does this sound like a valid assumption?

If so then I would like to have a go at fixing this. Is this a reasonably simple task if I can find the correct spare part(s). The bulb inside the oven died too about a year ago.

    Any advice much appreciated.

    Thanks

    Paul

Sounds like a thermostat issue to me. You need one of THESE.

Basically a screwdriver and patience job – power off first though, please.

Sorry I just found this reply.

Any videos/manuals etc on how to remove the oven to replace the theromstat?

Alternatively, any professionals in the Somerset area able to do this job?

    Thanks

    Paul
