ParticipantHello all, this is my first time of posting on the site, but I have read previous posts which I have found extremely helpful.
Ok I was wondering if anyone could assist me? I have a Diplomat apl 3201 single fan assisted oven. Not so long ago the temperature we bezerk and the over was cremating everything that I placed into it. Eventually it gave out alltogether. After reading some advice from previous posts, I managed to open up the back of the oven and remove the element, which had broken in half !! So I managed to order a new element off of the net, replaced the old one and for a while, I had an oven that worked like new. NOW just a few weeks on, my oven’s temerature has gone bezerk again, and is beginning to burn everything as before. Does anyone have any ideas on what could be causing the issue? I’m reluctant to buy a new oven because I believe that the problem can be solved cheaply? thank you for any help. Cheers Ivor

Hi Ivor,
It’s almost certainly the stat that’s causing the problem which you buy from this link in the shop. That controls the temperature bar a limiter which will just cut the oven off if it gets too hot.
Hope that helps.

Hi Kwatt
thank you for that one. I will get on and order the part as soon as I discover where it goes 😀 . I know that it is not permitted to give instructions or advice on how to fix problems on the forum, but would it be possible for you to give me an indication (on a scale of 1 to 10) how easy it is to replace the part? I’ve never taken out an oven before, but believe it’ll be a case of undoing a few screws, sliding out the over and revealing the part that needs replacing? Apologies if this is the question of a fool, but I’m fairly new to the DIY side of things. Cheers 😉

Hi Ivor,
The thermostat is behind the temperature knob on that machine and just screws into place. The phial (the bit that goes into the oven itself to sense the temperature) is routed acorss the top of the cavity and usually slotted through into the actual cooking cavity where it’s clipped into place. All oven thermostats are pretty much the same deal and the top panel/s, at the very least, has to be removed to allow you to get to it but usually you’d have the back off as well.
One thing to watch as people often make the mistake, is not to bend the phial at a right angle or to cut it! Do that and it’s goosed immediately. Same with frdge stats and people do it a lot.
Hope that helps.
