ParticipantHi,
new to the site and forum, and as the name suggests living in Germany.
My Diplomat W/D ‘suddenly’ decided it didn’t want to spin any more towards the end of a wash cycle. Seems to empty/pump out ok, then appears to attempt to spin, but I just hear a faintly audible ‘click’ and at the same time the drum moves ever so slightly, and then settles back to its previous position – i.e. the drum seems to rotate about a centimetre and then stops. Any ideas out there?
The motor is a Nuova Ibmei and the motor model/serial number is: Tipo C.P.I./M2-16-158/AR 51-The appliance is approx. 11 years old and has run faultlessly from new, apart from an infrequent ‘moaning’ noise on the drying cycle!
Thanks in anticipation!

Most likely the module is the problem. They are still available but not particularly cheap, an email to Dave on spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk will get you a price and availability.

New module fitted, and machine works as new – thanks to Dave and K Watt for prompt and accurate help and service!

Back again!!!!
A new – possibly related – problem has now appeared! (In fact, 2 problems..)
Firstly, about a week ago, I had to dry a small load of washing 3 times before it was acceptably dry – on the first 2 attempts, it was ‘warm’ but still noticeably damp.
Problem no. 2: Having done a wash cycle last night, the machine is not spinning at the correct speed (either 500 or 1200 rpm.)
It’s not load balance related, as I tried it with no load inside the drum with the same results.
It DOES spin, but at a very slow speed (estimated less than 100 rpm.) I have been away on holiday between these 2 events, so apart from the week’s interval between them, they are the last 2 times that I have used the machine. Now the BIG question: Could this be yet another module fault? (The new module was fitted at the end of June) – OR – more crucially – could this be an unrelated fault to the module that has reappeared, and could have had some relevance to the original fault?
HELP!!

Hi,
IIRC there’s a capacitor for the motor in those (bit of an odd setup) that can cause your spin problem. The good thing about that is that it’s the cheap option. 😉
Dryer, more than likely a blocked condensate chamber by the sounds of it.

Thanks for the quick reply!
I guess I need to order a new capacitor to fix the first snag, but how do I resolve the second one?August 22, 2007 at 2:08 pm #217526kwatt

Hi,
The second one is the big plastic “chamber” at the back that’s most likely just blocked with fluff. Of course, there can be other reasons, but that’d be my first port of call mainly as it’s the cheapest fix, no parts needed.

Hi – have been away for a while, but finally got back to looking at this again – there appears to be 2 capacitors attached to the plastic ‘frame’ that also holds the module in place.
Question is, which one do I replace?
One has green lettering with a value of 22 uf, and the name ‘Icar ecofill’ on it, the other has blue lettering with a value of 16 uf, and the name appears to be ‘Italfarad’ although it’s not all that clear to make out. Any ideas out there please?

KeymasterAre you sure one is not the mains filter?
IIRC it’s usually the 22uF one that is the problem.
