I recently had to repair a slimline diplomat dishwasher ADP8902 (smeg type) with fault E7, even after resetting it would still error out, sent off to QER for repair they said it was a chip fault and they could not repair it, so I quoted customer for a new pcb. Customer did not want it repaired, but later called out Extracare MFI who re-programmed it, was anyone aware that this could be done on these boards, and what is the proceedure?

No there is no “re programming” on this. Even the later smeg (not this model though) stuff have pc interfaces but its only used for fault finding and testing. They are having you on I think. All you can do is re- set it.

Thought so, customer has given me a copy of the extracare job sheet with re programed written on they didnt charge him according to the paper work as it was under contract after all, now wants a refund from us after we checked it over also sent it off to QER for confirmation, I dont why he called us out in the first place if he knew he was getting a free repair.

Who knows what conversation went on between the last engineer and the customer, after all… No charge? And if the module cant be re-programed?
Sounds like a favour to me.
I hate these Ar*****e type customers. They are a pain in the A**e and make the job harder than it is. I think I would throw their refund at them and tell them to ‘please never ring me again….’ and put it down to a bad unlucky experience.
