Is that a Smeg built model Chris?

Yeah, got it now – it’s the three button LCD display one. E7 is no drop in water level detected in the time allowed, ie it’s probably blocked.
Sorry about the confusion,

No problem, so E7 is a blockage with the water coming in to the machine? Thanks again
The machine seems to draining ok ie no water in the bottom of the machineMay 7, 2007 at 9:15 pm #212951Penguin45

No. The water level control system works on an air pressure system. During drain, the computer allows a fixed amount of time for the system to depressurise and release the pressure switch, in order to decide that is is empty and so progress to the next stage of the wash. Normally, a blockage in the drain system (pump, hoses or drain coupling) would keep the water in the machine, until the computer times out and brings up the error. However, a build-up of sludgey deposits in the internal pipework of the machine can hold the system pressurised, regardless of whether the water pumps out or not……… Tricky one to resolve – disassembly of the water matrix on the side of the machine may well be involved to allow access to the pipework and pressure system for cleaning.
Power off if you’re going to give it a go.

We wish knot, that would make our lives so much easier!
No, the only cleaner that works is hot water, a bottle brush and a bit of effort to clear the fill matrix.
As P says though, it can be caused by blockages elsewhere but the fill matrix is the main suspect with this sort of thing. If it’s really bad it will likely need replaced.

Hi Knot,
No chance I’m afraid……… This is worth a read:
http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.p … ge&pid=102You’ll realise from my initial post that SMEG use 2 completely seperate sets of fault codes 😳 . This may help, if it doesn’t a strip down and clean out is the only proper way to proceed.

Keep counting.
I’m the idiot that’s been trying to put it all into an intelligible manual! 😕

The SMEG ones are easy enough – it’s working out the “badge” jobs that does my head in………
