ParticipantWe have a problem with this appliance in that when we switch on the unit appears to react normally ie no bangs or strange noises, but the unit does not seem to be allowing the inflow of water when checking(after a reasonable time say 45 minutes or so, the innards are dry). We have checked the water supply also the drain systems which are ok. It seems there is a solenoid valve or similar not operating ie not opening, without a detailed manual it is difficult to know how to access the valve?? any ideas ???

from what i can see this is a smeg built unit. finding the valve is easy its screwed onto the end of the water pipe from the tap. cant think how to remove it off hand but most dishwasher allow the sides to be removed for access or there may be a panel underneath you can get at it

Thanks– I have firstly tried to reset the unit using a smeg procedure and this seemed to work but now we are getting a knocking sound from the control panel area (ie within the top of the door) could this be a relay or similar trying to open a solenoid valve ? Any idea ? thanks

Thanks Dave,
Problem may be resolved!! fingers crossed.
We tried to access the valve from the back but plates are fixed with a rivet type fixing. We therefore re connected put machine back under worktop. Squirted some WD40 into power button area. Put the unit into operation and for some reason it seems ok. We have since had 4 trouble free wash cycles. Hopefully that’s it !
Can only think we somehow released a sticky valve when moving the unit or power switch was sticking causing the Knocking sound. So far so good, Many thanks for your suggestions -would be interested to hear what you think.
