ParticipantThink I may have two problems with my Diplomat ADP8234. First my wife put it on and it started beeping. So she opened it and reset it. It seemed OK but when I got in a few hours later it sounded like it was still whirring round.
So I turned it off at the mains, and now the door won’t open. The light on the display is still on, but I can’t read it without opening the door.
Any thoughts?
Thanks

Tricky one to call on the info……… The latch mechanism can fail and hold the door shut. A violent side to side shaking whilst pulling the door towards you will sometimes do it. If it wont, you’ll have to drag it out and release the latch “loop” from the top.
If it’s still running after hours, I would suggest that it might be the drain pump running, suggesting that the flood protection system has been activated.
This one should display an error code on the LCD display if it has faulted.

Thanks for the advice. The trouble is that because it’s an integrated dishwasher it’s very hard to shake it. I’m mostly just shaking the panel.
I can see some screws connecting the machine to the worktop above, but I can’t expose them without opening the door. Bit of a catch-22 situation.
Is there any reason why the door would lock under normal circumstances?
Thanks

Hi Kingtoad,
Depending on how it’s built in there’s sometimes no option but to burst the control panel to get access and the door latch will, almost without doubt, be goosed.
The second fault is harder to nail, that could be a number of things as Penguin says and, the ironic bit is that, without getting into the machine and making it run again you can’t diagnose the other issue. 🙁

Hi
If its a smeg built one then a commonish fault is the pin holding the door peg; sliding out of its mount and causing the door catch to become compromised.Greg

OK, thanks everyone for your comments. I have emerged victorious in the battle of the dishwasher! Decided I needed to get mediaeval on its ass – I gave it an almighty yank and the door flew open and I went flying across the room.
Doesn’t look like there’s anything actually wrong with it but I guess I’ll need to take a closer look at the latch.
Anyway, thanks again.
