Diplomat – not drying and now not washing

Hello,

Model: Diplomat APM 8721 integrated washer/dryer

I called an engineer out as my washer dryer wasn’t drying properly, it would make all the right noises and spin the barrel correctly but there was no heat.

The engineer found that the fan wasn’t spinning as no power was getting to it. Whilst trying to find the fault he has now made the washing part also not work. I’m not sure what it doesn’t do, he just told me that the washer part is also now broken. He thinks that the programme timer is faulty. He has been unable to source a part and has since told me that the part is obsolete and left it at that.

Does this seem to be the likely cause? and also do you know anywhere were i maybe able to source this part? plus the approximate cost of the part.
Or do you think it maybe wiser to cut my loses and buy a new washer dryer?
If so are there any models/makes to avoid and do you have any recommendations?
