ParticipantHello,
The right hand hinge of the Diplomat oven door (no model indicated on the users hand book) will not stay in the hinge reciever. We took the door off and re-inserted it, and it is still the same issue.
It stays in place just until we try to close the door and it seems to pop out. What can we try?
Thanks

Try again to locate it correctly is the answer…they can be a fiddle but the key is to spot the small slot cut into the underside of the hinge arm which needs to locate over the front of the receiver (not the oven cavity itself). It helps to insert the door at quite a steep angle and you can check it’s correctly located by then opening the door fully and gently pulling it horizontally away….if it’s sitting correctly it won’t budge so you can safely drop the hinge stays to release the spring tension.

Hi,
Clive’s done his best with advice on generic hinges but we’d really need the model number to be of any more help. My advice is always the same on that, don’t trust a user guide for the model number! 9/10 the manual will be generic covering a range of machines, the only place that you can be sure that you’ve got the correct information is off the rating plate, anything else is not liable to be correct.

if its the standard old mfi electric oven fair few years old , ive only had that problem once after trying the door hinges and going back i found that it was in fact the hinge housing had worn cause the door to pop of on 1 side after every few times of opening and closing the door (ohingecs)
thats only thing i can think of with out a model number 😀April 7, 2009 at 6:30 pm #282375clivejameson

….which IIRC is sometimes on the right hand side of these in which case you need to pull the oven out of the housing about 4 or 5 inches to see it. -
