Diplomat Select 920 Top Oven Issue

Can anyone answer this one !

Bought this oven (Type AHY4420) second hand with a faulty element. I’ve replaced the faulty Top oven base element and every thing seems to working fine. But I have a queery – When the Top oven is turned on is the grill element supposed to come on along with the oven base element?
I ask, because the manual states that the top oven door should be open when grilling (understand that) but the inner grill comes on when the top oven is turned on a nd you don’t have the oven door open when the ovens on do you !!

The outer grill element should come on yes.

When the top oven is used only the outer part of the element should heat..NOT the inner part.the inner is the grill element.

Now that has confused me 😕 I though the two elements were part of the double (2 stage) grill. Also, I’m sure when I checked, it the inner element not the outer came on when the oven function was selected, I’ll check. It could be that I swapped the connectors over when I was checking it out.

does sound like u got them wired wrong way around
