ParticipantI have a diplomat washer dryer bought from howdens with a full kitchen and after only 18 months the washer dryer has packed in and according to the engineer completely beyond repair. Obviously as 12 guarantee is up I believe the unit should have worked for longer than 18 months and therefore should be due some sort of compensation/replacement. Any ideas or advice very much appreciated. In case you’re wondering the whole drum has moved round 180 degrees ! The engineer has stated that in his opinion there is no way that should have occured in the short time if at all and could well be a manufacturing fault. I’ve rang Diplomat and they don’t want to know as it is over 12 months.
Cheers,

This machine sounds like the generic Siltal machine – if so, I can’t quite work out how the drum could move 180 degrees anywhere in the cabinet. 😕
Please explain further………July 17, 2008 at 8:11 pm #257866Penguin45

Spitting feathers; splitting hairs 😀 .
Wonder if he means the back panel has rotated? Never written one off for that.

It can’t rotate – it has a retaining lug at the top of the drum spider casting that locates between the bolt lugs of the clamp ring. Hence the confusion….. 😕
If so, new drum seal, 1/2 hour, easy fix!!!

Hi, can anyone help?
I am trying to use one of the above, but having a single towel go through the drying cycle on full power for 160 minutes and still come out wet. This unit is under an extended warranty, but when the engineer came out he acknowledged that the towel was wet – he checked the unit out with a meter and said it was working fine??
He did say though that the machine is working as designed but he did notice that the cold water was not too cold.Am I expecting too much of this machine?
Thanks from
