ParticipantDoes anyone know if you can still get the original giant askoll pumps for these, or is it a full-on conversion to mechanical? I manged to decipher 😯 😯 a Whirlpool part no. of 481236158334 for a mechanical motor, but the original askoll one would be a five min. job! Thanks. simtoms.

No, only the replacement but it’s dead easy and takes hardly any longer than fitting the askoll type 😀

daves right i’ve fitted one of these and the job is no longer. and lets face it if you don’t want a call-back then fitting the new one would still be worth it even if it took twice as long. i know of three askolls that have packed up in less than a year.

When I was working for the Whirlpool agent this job was extremely common.
It takes no longer to fit than the Askoll. I think it’s easier to fit, to be honest.

Can anyone tell me if this pump is a direct replacement or is there a conversion kit? 🙄

It’s a direct replacement. Everything is in the box.

Regarding the nasty hose clips that W/pool supply for the sump hose/s, I take it there’s a special tool for the job? Does anyone use anything other than the clip they supply, or can advise on getting the right tool?

Internal (bent end 😯 ) circlip pliers do the job very nicely.

Hi
I use a pair of side cutters to recrimp the clips without a problem.

Terminal screwdriver to slacken the clip (waggle it in the crimp) and miniature end cutters (nail pullers?) to crimp them up again.
