ParticipantEvening all,
Wondering if anyone can help with a problem I’m having with the above dishwasher.
The customer called me out to investigate the m/c’s electronics playing up… She would select a programme, and shortly after start the programme would go onto rinse position (LED lights up) and thus not complete programme.
I carried out a couple of electrical and visual tests, and ascertained that the pcb/control unit in the door was faulty.
A new unit was duly ordered, and fitted tonight. However, now the new m/c control will not permit programme selection.
I’m wondering if the pcb/control unit needs configurating, or if there is another likely cause. Or, perhaps I should try and contact Whirlpool.
All the connections on the new unit match the original, although some of the serial numbers differ (probably due to modification/updates)Hope there may be some positive feedback.
Best wishes,
jontymox

You should have pcb 4812 218 38381.
If you have 4812 218 38347 the pcb is not configured.Chris.

Thanks again Penguin45,
pcb part number: 4812 218 38615
I assume this is an incorrect pcb for this model.

Evening all… again,
Wondering if anybody can advise on the problems I’m experiencing with the above dishwasher.
Having renewed the afore-mentioned control module, all seemed well until the customer contacted me this evening.
Evidently, the m/c runs well for around 1/2 hour before going onto rinse mode, and stopping.
The customer states that the m/c isn’t cleaning v. well either, and appreciates the difficulty in locating the problem.
Forgive my inexperience (I’ve not been an independent engineer for long) but is there another control module on most dishwashers?
I realise some have another unit in the base area.
Thought I’d cured the above problem, especially as the unit is integrated, although customer is talking about buying a new m/c. as I have said it is my mistake in not diagnosing fault correctly.By the way…
On a modern Hotpoint D/W (or any other make) how does one test the power supply to the soap dispenser?
Again, I made the mistake of renewing the dispenser unit to rectify a soap dispenser not releasing… and fault remains!
Suspect wiring fault/control unit.
Presumably, the solenoid only receives power for a brief moment after around 10 -15 minutes operation, thus opening the dispenser lid?Best wishes,
jontymox

Got a similar sounding prob on a Whirl ADG 957 jontymox, probably get a look at over weekend, its reportedly skipping to rinse & aborting prog 😯
I’ll post here if i make any sense of it, looks like i should avoid buying a PCB 😯
Did you check the basics jontymox? Heater, NTC, TOC, valves etc?Regarding testing of soap dispenser, really all you can do is check continuity through coil & if the thing is mechanically ok by operating with your finger.

Hello Madmac,
Just wondering if you had any joy with your dishwasher, assuming you had the chance to have a look at it over the w/e?
Regards,
jontymox

Well, finally trekked the 30 miles to look at this machine. Whatever the initial fault my customer thought she had, i was confronted with a machine which would drain for a long time & then abort 😯
Turns out it was the usual fat clogged pressure sw assembly in the base, prob solved & one happy punter.
