Disable ice making on whirlpool 20RI-D3J fridge freezer?

hi

i have a whirlpool 20RI-D3J american style fridge freezer. the ice making function freaked out a while ago and froze the top hald of the freezer rock solid. my wife decided to rather than defrost it first, pull at the ice making parts to remove them resulting in nymerous bits breaking.

however we don’t usually use the ice muc, just the water and therefore would like to somehow turn off the ice making as currently its periodically pouring water into the freezer expecting an ice tray to be there. i’ve found a “test” button on the ice maker but can’t find an on/off switch. doesn anyone know off the top of there head how to turn off the icemaking but leave the filtered water on?

any advice greatly appreciated.
