I have a fridge-freezer, of which I use I use the fridge half for fermenting beer, at 18c, via a separate thermostat.

The freezer is empty, but runs, of course, whenever I’m using the fridge. To avoid wasting electricity, is it possible to disable the freezer half, by fooling its thermostat? I think I’ve found the sensor for the thermostat: A little box containing two parallel wires in a white sheaf?

There appear to be separate thermostats for the fridge and freezer and the model is a Hotpoint Mistral 8496

If it’s a single compressor unit then no, it is not possible.
