KeymasterCan you help please? Despite its age our machine has been fantastic over the years but is now leaving a white residue on the glassware, the heating element and tea mugs are still dirty. Whether this makes any difference a month or so ago detergent was accidently put into the salt container, but we tried to scoop it out immediately. This week we have inspected the salt container which indicated that no more salt was needed and so we then cleaned it out. The salt level went down when we put it back together so we refilled it thinking that the salt was too low but it is still doing the same. The metal casing within the machine seems to be smeared too apart from the door where the rinse aid seems to come down from. Any suggestions please 😥

hi
you may well have damaged the salt regen unit but it may well be that you will need to keep flushin the system out without any detergent and re adjust the salt usage to use maximum to make the flush faster.have a look in your manual to see how to adjust your salt usage.
and then refill every week for a couple of weeks then reset to normal.
hopefully this may clear your system.bryan

Thank you for this I am not familar with this site so I don’t know if I have used the correct method of reply. The make of dw is Hotpoint. I have checked the manual and can’t see any method of how to release the salt to maximum. We have tried all the suggestions re rinse add dosage spray force regulator. I saw something earlier on the site re using citric acid to remove a build up of limescale would this also help?
