ParticipantHaving a new kitchen installed and as the current Bosch Integrated dishwasher is 6 years old and, over the years, have lost some of the fixing kit it may be wise to invest in a new fully integrated dishwasher. Currently considering one of the following two models as I can get them for £340-£350.
Bosch SGV53E33GB
NEFF S54M45X0 (Series 2)
Both similar, with the NEFF having a few extra bells and whistles and more adaptable foldable plate racks in top and bottom baskets. However it only washes up to 65 Degrees whilst the the Bosch has an Intensive cycle at 70 Degrees.
Expert opinions would be welcome as I’m inclined to the NEFF but the lack of Intensive Cycle at 70 Degrees is my only reservation – is 65 Degrees plenty anyway?
Thanks In Advance.

Hi spcdust
Bosch and Neff are both part of the BSH group. They both have the same two year warranty, both are triple A rated and use only 13 litres of water each. 65 degree wash will get your dishes just as clean.
I reckon the Neff gets the nod 😉

Thanks Don for your speedy response – Think the NEFF is the way to go and the a cost of £351 delivered seems a great price.
One final question – when it says “Stainless steel/polinox interior” – does this mean some of the internal cabinet is plastic (the door?) or do you think the polinox refers to the basket coating? Just curious as current dishwasher has a fully stainless steel interior.

Where quoted Polinox will be the internal base, the two remaining walls, roof and rear will be stainless steel.

It would be interesting to realise the model number of your existing dishwasher? My suspicion is that it is a far better product than the ones you are enquiring about? The ‘polinox’ plastic based machines are fine, no problem there, bit more noisy than the full stainless steeled tubs, truth be known. And probably not a patch on what you own already? However without the benefit of that information I would suggest (speculate even) that your existing machines direct replacement would be something at twice the price range you are currently looking at? For example : a SBV69M10GB.

Model I currently have is the Bosch SGV53E03, purchased September 2004. It was never an all singing / dancing model but would be interested in any opinions
Whilst it’s a fine machine my concern is that I will need to purchase a new fixing / fitting kit due to the fact that as our last kitchen “disintegrated” some of the door fixing brackets have gone missing. Also, a problem I previously experienced, is if the existing machine does pack up in the next couple of years you inevitably find that when you come to fix the door panel on a replacement machine existing screw holes in the panel will interfere when trying to fix it onto the new machine – you can never get the same level of fixing as the screw fail to “tack” properly.
Possibly I’m being a tad “extravagant” but when you’re spending silly money of building work, kitchen fitting etc. £351 for a NEFF doesn’t seem too bad.

My suspicions confirmed…that is a nice piece of kit you have there!

Replacement parts are readily available.

How very true to a greater extent anyway. Exterior decor panels can, for the most part at least, be switched over and fitted to other similar machines but invariably some unforseen compromise may need to be sought?…better the devil you know a good phylosophy I say. 😉

Indeed so but provided your machine has been kept well and salt used regularly (if you live in a hard water area that is) it should last for many a more year to come. I’d be surprised if , given the ideal working environment, that model should at least be good for 10 years plus plus!
Your money, your call my friend. 😀

Well, my hope is that the new NEFF one will give me 8-10 years service and I won’t have to think about it once it’s installed.

the electronics on both are siemens based, but the newer the appliance the sooner the electronics are failing.
basically its a symptom of cost cutting price-pressure from the big people.
bosch/neff: itll be £350 per machine
multiple: well we will have £5000 then. or 50000 if you do it for £250 per machine
bosch/neff: ok but it will have to be made cheaper
multiple: ok, we dont care…
obviously figures are hypothetical but thats hte general idea of things.

My choice would always be a Neff product over a Bosch, although as already stated, both are BSH group and have similar electronics.
