    Hello

I had a AEG F55412V10 dishwasher installed as part of a kitchen renovation from Howdens in July ’17. Since then, I’ve had 2 dishwasher heating problems. One in Feb ’18 and the second last week. I’m trying to understand whether they have a common underlying problem.

The report from the first repair cited “heater was open circuit so this was replaced”. Today’s repair told me that the “heating element was bad and so was replaced”. Both have been repaired as the unit is still under warranty. However, the 2-year warranty period finishes in July. I am looking for some expert views on whether there might be an underlying issue. I don’t want to pay for call-outs/repairs every 6-12 months. The repair person here today was not very enlightening about my query. Just kept repeating that the heating element was bad.

Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

manufacturers have changed over to a combined heater motor unit. think this is down to cheapness and ease of assembly but these heaters are prone to failure. you are lucky in one respect as other makes including Bosch supply it a complete motor unit which is a lot more expensive

failure is most likely due to heater getting too hot and blowing the safety thermostats that are there to prevent fire. Overheating is often due to poor water flow through the unit and can be cause amongst other things by blocked filters, foaming and worn motors
