ParticipantI have a problem with my dishwasher – the make is ‘cookers appliances’ but I suspect this is part of a bigger company; it is integrated. It has suddenly stopped working. It will power up, drain some water, and start a cycle but this only lasts for a few seconds before it cuts out. I have taken the filters out and cleaned them, and checked the cold water supply. I there anything else anybody can suggest before I bite the bullet and call somebody out?
Thanks a lot!

Make is actually white-westinghouse DW009. Tonight I stripped it down as much as I could and cleaned it all. By doing this I think that I may have found the problem. There is a removable tray underneath where the electrics are that was full of water, I removed this and emptied the water and now it works again – when I looked underneath there seems to be a float switch which I assume cut the power when this tray is full for protection??? Now my problem is that it seems to have been caused by a small leak in each corner at the front, are there any pointers of where the leaks could be from, and how to solve them? Thanks in advance!

From memory that is a Chinese one, Midea if memory serves me and, I hate to tell you this, but it’s a pile of junk if I’m right. They ripped off a bad design from Indesit and, miraciously made it worse somehow.
Usual rules apply, don’t use multi-function tabs bar the Fairy ones and whatever you do, don’t open the door while it’s on or the base will flood.

Thanks for the reply, I will remember the tips in the future. Until I can afford a new one though I need to try to stop it leaking some how. There doesnt seem to be any adjustment on the door. Is there any sealant I can use that is dishwasher safe? or any other things I can try to stop it leaking?
Thanks

Ok, thanks for the reply. So is it then acceptbale to let it leak, fill up the tray, and then empty it everytime it trips the float switch?

How can I put this to you gently? The machine leaks. They all leak. The first year failure rate is over 80{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}. European manufacturers allow for a 4{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} failure in the first year……. You could persevere with it – you’ll finish up on first name terms with your engineer, who will do his best with the rubbish he has to work with, so it’s not his fault.
If it’s still in warranty, get it replaced and don’t accept a like for like replacement. Pay out a bit more for a brand name you actually recognise (so long as it isn’t Indesit) and you’ll get a bit life out of it.
If it’s out of guarantee, I’m sorry, but this is your best option:

Remember, you gets what you pays for. If they’re giving it away as part of a kitchen package, there’s going to be a catch………

have just had the same problem altho the bottom tray was not removable i just removed the water from the tray and seems to be fine and again the door must be the leak because now we dont open the door while it has been in cycle just to put an extra item in and so far so good.
