My built-in Electrolux dishwasher (about 10 years old) suddenly stopped working. More specifically, it has no power. I’ve checked the fuse and that’s OK, but I’m not sure what else I can do. Is it worth calling an engineer, or will I have to buy a new dishwasher? Any advice welcome…

    Re: Dishwasher – no power

Could be a burnt out on / off switch; burnt terminal block; or door switch failure. All will need testing. If you have a test meter you can locate, isolate and continuity test all three. Fault finding can be a bit tedious……. 😉
An engineer, on the other hand, can locate and fix the problem quickly. It is well worth the small charge to know for sure. It is quite likely to be easily repairable. The older dishwashers were far, far better made than the modern day offerings – a current dishwasher from Electrolux / Zanussi / Tricity – Bendix or AEG (all from the same stable today) is likely to fail in under 3 years. Such is progress. :rolls:
If at all unsure, click the Repairs @ banner to locate an approved engineer in your area.
If you are going to attempt a repair, Power Off and Unplug before any testing is done. :plug:

    Hope that helps,

    Steve.
