my hotpoint dishwasher bf162 will not drain and about 2 inches of water lies at the bottom of it i drain it manually and start it but dishes will not be clean and water lying at bottom again please help

Can you hear the drain pump running? If you can, the problem may lie in the plumbing side of things. Check that the sink coupling is not choked and that the drain hose itself is not crushed/trapped or badly kinked.
If you can’t hear the pump running, it will have eaten something which has disagreed with it and jammed, in which case a dismantling session is in order. The pump is underneath, so pulling it out and getting the undertray off is required.
