ParticipantI am trying to replace the drain pump on a Bosch Exxcel dishwasher. I have taken all the sides, top off and undone screws but cannot get the wash chamber off the base tray. I assume that it may be ‘o’ ring type joints that need to be broken to free the thing.
Is there anyone out there that can help?November 27, 2006 at 11:38 pm #196530iadom

Full model number plus ENR number if possible is the first thing you need to get some help. A couple of variations.

Firstly, why do you need to replace the pump? it could just be blocked or jammed. You can inspect the pump impellor by removing a single torx screw in the inside of the machine, inside the sump at about 8.00 o’clock.
Lift of the small cap , remove the small rubber flap valve and shine a torch inside first before you poke your fingers in, hidden glass can be nasty.
Before you do this, replace the top, the sides and all the screws except the ones holding the lower front plinth on. The pump is rather awkward to change on this machine but can be done from the front by removing the door panel and the lower front plinth only. Please remove plug at all times and click the link at the bottom of this post to see if we have an engineer who can help you if you get stuck.

Unfortunately the machine in question doesn’t have access to the pump from inside the tub. In order to access the pump the bottom front panel needs to come off. The pump is located behind the water inlet tube and a plastic latch/lug holds the pump body to the pump chamber. Twisting the 2 apart gains access inside to remove whatever may be blocking it! 😉
It a fiddly not so easy job even for us experts (who incidentally could sort it for you if you wish? – see link below)
