Dishwasher salt resevior full of water.

Hi sorry if this has been asked a thousand times but i would be apprecietive if someone could tell me If I have a fault or not. The dishwasher I have works fine with no smells however every time I try to fill the salt resevior it is always full of water. When I add salt water just spills into the base. Do I have a fault here? Thanks for your time

No – water is mixed with the salt to flush out the water softener thats fitted to you dishwasher, as the salt level goes down so the water level fills to the cap. Adding salt just displaces the water in the salt container.
