    Bosch Dishwasher SGS 5342GB/17

It is stopping at different times through the cycle (eg with the clock showing 42 mins , 27 mins ) and making a sucking noise . when opened there is no water in the cabinet, although i’ve had the side off and checked there is water flowing through the bit that gets gunged up , the and watched water flowing in at the start of the cycle, and there has been some cleaning /rinsing going on until it stops.
when i press the reset button combination at the front the timer goes to zero but the noise doesn’t stop – that only stops when i open the cabinet door.

its as if there is a solenoid that intermittently isnt opening and stopping the flow of water round the system , or the PCB/ EPROM has failed.

the machine is about 10 years old. Is it worth getting it fixed ?

their is an anti-food device on that machine

if the base of the machine is full of water ( not where you put your dishes ) then there is a float that operates a switch which makes the drain pump start and it wont stop till the water is removed
it may be a serious fault or a simple as a blockage unless someone checks you will not know

My Indesit has done this a few times. Pull the unit out and tip it forward about 45 degrees or more. Any water in the antiflood tank will spill out. You’ll need a few old towels to mop up the mess.

    Re: dishwasher stopping intermittently

official pronouncement -‘b******d’ . probably the circulation motor has failed/is failing + probably something else, given the wide range of things that aren’t right
    eg
    stops on long wash cycle.
when reset from the front, doesn’t drain down.
    Doesn’t restart from where interrupted

Not economical to repair as its >10 yrs old
