ParticipantI have an integrated bosh dishwasher model number shv55m03gb/79 and last week it tripped my electrics after being on for only 5 mins. Even after resetting and changing the programme the electrics tripped everytime I shut the door.
We contacted our electrician and over the phone he said this would cost more to repair than to buy a new one. Given these are £500 I’d like to try and fix if possible, so I have taken the front off of the machine to investigate.
Having had a look about, I found that the microswitch heater (small device near the centre top of the door) had some blackening around one of the contacts and also inside it.
Could it be this that is causing it to trip and can I simply replace this or would something else more serious have caused this or is this blackening normal and I am investigating a dead end? ThanksOctober 26, 2013 at 1:41 pm #403460Martin

It could well be so replace it and see. Also disregard your electricians advice as these are good machines and well worth fixing. You could also look toward getting in a local repair expert to fix it for you. :idea :

you have an earth fault on the machine that can be cause by various things including leaks
as above it could be the switch but from how you descibe it may not be
you need to find a trusted local repairer (through this site) to come out and give you an informed honest opinionDave

Just tested it again and it’s fine on rinse but as soon as you put it on a heated program it trips after only a few mins.
Do you know if you can pick up these switches from local electrical stores anywhere or would I only be and to source it online?
Or am I better just getting someone in, in the first instance. Any idea how much it would cost for someone to come out and take a look?

goto
http://www.bosch-home.co.uk/store/spareparts/search
put in your Enr shv55m03gb/79
and you will get list of parts and diagrams
door switch you were talikg about part number 187205
what worries me is it may be the heater itself part number 496153. which is a lot dearer and a lot more difficult to fit or a fault on a solder joint in the timer arcing and throwing the trip
it is difficult to say an exact price to call out to check it over. have a look here

Thanks Dave.
Is it easy to get at the heater to see if something is wrong with that (would it be obvious)?

Sounds like an insulation fault on the heater. Need to megger it, it you don’t have the proper test equipment it would pay to get an engineer to look at it
