I have had a few problems with some integrated white goods in a flat that I let out. The previous tenants did not report any problems and they left in June this year.
The new tenant said that the washing machine did not drain. I had a look and the drain pipe was clogged up with soapy residue. I removed it, rinsed it through, replaced it and the machine seemed to work, (I tested it on a wash cycle). A week later and he said that the washing machine was broken, there seemed to be a problem with the power, fuse was OK, but it would not switch on. I replaced the washing machine.
Now, the same thing seems to have happened with e dishwasher. Tenant said that it didn’t drain. I emptied out the water and the drainage pipe was clogged with a soapy build up where it goes into the fixed waste pipe. I cleared the drainage pipe, tried it on a cycle and it seemed to be fine. However, within a week it is now tripping the RCD (disconnect everything else in kitchen and the RCD trips, disconnect dishwasher and the RCD is fine with everything else), even when the machine is not actually switched on.
Is this likely to be the mains suppressor?
It is a Hotpoint Model BF1620 (serial number BF1620 31703018). It is quite an old machine (over 10 years old) so I don’t mind replacing it if it is beyond repair, but I would like to satisfy my curiosity as to why this is occurring……………………..
