ParticipantHi,
Can someone help out here please? We have an ADP903 Whirlpool dishwasher. It fills with water but does not wash or rinse the dishes. After 10 to 15 minutes the light beside the start button flashes.
The manual tells me that the flashing light is a fault but does not give an indication of what the fault is. Pressing and holding the start button for 5 seconds resets the fault.
The dishwasher only has a dial with three positions, rinse, 50 deg and 60 deg, the start push button and a small light. There is no other display to indicate what the fault is.
This problem first started happening intermittently a few months ago but went away again. It returned last week and now the dishwasher will not run at all.

You’ve told us everything except the pattern of the flashing light – which is the fault code………..

Thank you for the reply. I didn’t know that the pattern of the flashing light was the fault code.
The light over the start button flashes on and off at even intervals approximately twice per second. It looks like the light is off a little longer than it is on each time.

The error codes for the Whirlpool ADP903 dishwasher are not given in the manual for the machine.
Does anyone know where I can get a copy of the error code listing?Regards,

If you mean that the lamp goes 1-2-pause-repeat, it means that the flood protection system has been activated. Usually this means that the tray below the machine is full of water. Drain it off, then find the leak.
Power off before removing any panel.

Thanks for your help Penguin45. I checked the machine and it has a metal tray under the motors and electrical wiring, almost at floor level. It did not have any water on it and I can’t see any sensor attached to it. Have I got the correct tray?
The light flashes similar to this face, on, off, on…. 😳 Hope this helps.

Continuous on/off flashing is a single flash, NTC fault.
Common problem, if you do a search for Whirlpool and NTC you’ll find all the info you need.
The part is also a stock item in shop@DP

Thanks for the advice. This sounds about right. Looks like it will be easy to replace too.

I looked up the NTC feeler probe. It is a thermistor where the resistance value changed as the temperature of the NTC changed.
I checked the one in my dishwasher. It measured approx 60K ohms and drops into the 50K ohms range when I hold it in my closed (warm) hand. This would indicate that it is working.
If the NTC probe is working, what is the next most lightly fault that would stop the dishwasher processor from detecting the NTC?

Before we go any further can you post the 2 12 digit numbers from your machine so that we can identify the exact machine.
