It’s a long story……so I’ll cut out the cr*p in the middle, but this long standing customer of mine was telling me that he puts Steradent in his dishwasher instead of dishwasher tablets…….? :rolls:

Now, don’t laugh!…..apparently this herbert reckons it gives brilliant results to his crocks every time? He reckoned some time back that he couldn’t get the tobacco stains out of his dentures purely by dropping them in a glass of Steradent overnight. So he figured he would put his dentures in the dishwasher with the dinner plates to see if they would clean up? They did!!!! He was chuffed and it brought a fresh bright smile to his face at his triumphant idea. 😛

Then, he wondered if Steradent could do the crocks any good instead of powder tabs? He stuck a Steradent in the dispenser only to find the crocks came out sparkling….every time. 😯

Being as Steradent tablets are a fraction of the cost of dishwasher tablets, he recommends the idea to all his friends that have dishwashers. And apparently they are hooked on cleaning their teeth and crocks with Steradent too?

If only I had false teeth I might be tempted to try out his theory?

I might buy some though, just to put it to the test so to speak? :rotl:

    Well, wouldn’t recommend it and, here’s why…

    Product Description:

Steradent extra strength tablets with fruit acids effectively remove tartar from your dentures. They also remove plaque and stubborn stains caused by tea, coffee and cigarettes.

    Health Warning:

For steeping dentures only. Do not place tablets in mouth. Keep out of reach of children. If accidentally swallowed seek medical advice immediately.
Do not use in conjuction with any other denture cleaner.

    Directions / Advice:

    1. Brush and rinse dentures. Place in water as hot as the finger can bear, using just enough water to cover the dentures. DO NOT USE BOILING WATER STRAIGHT FROM THE KETTLE. Add one tablet. Replace cap firmly.
    2. Leave dentures to soak for 10 minutes. Heavier or more stubborn stains may require regular overnight steeping. Avoid steeping dentures with metal parts for longer than 10 minutes.
    3. Brush dentures and rinse thoroughly before wearing.
    4. Pour Extra Strength solution away carefully and rinse denture bath and wash basin with cold water.

    More:

Keep solution away from metal surfaces.

That last little bit may present a slight problem… :rolls:

    Metal surfaces eh?

I didn’t realise either that Steradent comes either in ‘Active plus’ form or ‘Extra strength’ form….. 😕

Darn!…..He never said?….ah well never mind….testing his theory should be fun anyway!

Many years ago when speaking to a Bosch technician about blocked sump hoses etc on dishwashers where pump turned one way to circ and other to drain he said drop couple of Steradent tablets in sump over night to clear, tried it and it worked haven’t tried since.
