ParticipantI wonder how many of you guys(& gals π ) out there that fix things, recognise this and realise its significance to us in the trade π
It’s worth more than twopence to most of us π
Martin
P.S. Don’t give the game away if you do recognise it but rather tell us when you first spotted one OK β

When your running late, had a load of awkward jobs and had just about enough, one of these is a very welcome sight indeed!

I’ve even had a customer who swore it must have come out of his machine & cannot see why he should pay.
Best thing was it was in the days of Currys Philco same day service, I got there in the winter at gone 7.30 p.m. & he moaned I was late. Compounded by the fact it was a cottage in a village, there were no outside lights and analogue mobiles didn’t work in the area, so I had to drive up & down the road, looking in gateways until I found a modern bungalow called Glebe Cottage. (No logic in that name at all, it wasn’t even near the church).
As soon as I looked at the kitchen & whilst he was telling me the machine & our service was cr@p, I was mentally adding the vat to Β£60. Our service fee at the time was Β£28 + vat, but I made him painfully aware that as I was out in the middle of nowhere that time of night & he was not prepared to wait 24 hours, “this is what it will cost you sir, had you waited until tomorrow when I have a pre-booked call for this area, it would have been a lot cheaper!”

Do I recognise it er, well I do.
Some years back a customer complained her Hoover washer was not draining. Guess what I found ?? (no prizes folks). I showed the customer the problem and explained why it would not drain π . I was taken back when she said it had been working fine for many years and it had been connected to the same connection all that time π π π π³ .
Who sayβs miracles donβt happen.

If I may deviate slightly on this thread. Some years ago I went to a newish Zanussi jetsystem for no drain, after removing the pump I found
a large green “item of correspondence, with a Parisian postmark” wrapped round the impellor. I carefully extricated it with long-nosed pliers and left in top of the chest freezer, then tiptoed quietly away. It was at a farm and the appliance was in a open utility room so i did not see the owners.
