I had one of those once, i.e. sleeping bag for a mouse.
I was struggling to remove a foreign body from the vortex impellor of a Hoover 2336H without stripping the pump, you know get your fingers in the end of the pump & twiddle the impellor & fish out the problem.
The lady was intrigued to know what it was in the pump & I was saying, “feels like an elastic band to me”. anyway, out it popped into the bowl she supplied, I pushed the bowl out from under the machine & let her empty the cloudy water. Poor lass, she went all quiet.
We have since had a customer brazenly phone us and asked us to attend her machine as she was sure there was a condom inside. She asked the engineer not to put on the invoice what the obstruction was, wonder why?

Ok, somebody has to admit their ignorance and break cover. What the bloody hell is it? In all my years of being in the trade, I can’t say I know exactly what the mystery object is.
Can somebody please open the box and spill the beans!
Regards
Washerdoctorps, I’ve got a feeling I’ll kick myself once suitably enlightened.

I read the post about the Parisian Postmark, but initially read it as a Pakistani postmark, and initially didn’t twig. I than realised that this was in reference to a ‘letter from France’ and then understood why an ‘elastic band’ should be stuck round the impellor.
In my experience, they don’t wash well and I would recommend to customers the use of a fresh one on each occasion 😀

WasherdoctorAre you talking about the item coloured blue that started this thread? as per the piccie in the 1st posting; or the item we have let this conversation drift into?
Let’s just say both of these are stoppers.

The picture of the spigot still doesn’t enlighten me! I must be being really thick today.
I’ve been to lots of un sawn-off spigots where the appliance won’t drain DUH!
but What is the blue thing? Presumably some of these spigots come with one of those blue things over it? I think the penny may be dropping!
I think I’ve got it??
If so, I can honestly say I’ve never seen one of those. I seem to come across the ones where the end hasn’t been sawn off!
