ParticipantHi potential saviour(s) !
Half the door of my Diplomat ADP 0110 #200502040 came away just as the spuds were roasting for Xmas dinner yesterday!
We propped it closed and the spuds roasted OK thankfully.
I now want to fix the damned thing. I have had a look and it seems the spring loaded hinge shot out of the door and into the main cooker housing. This happened because a plate, into which the pivot was seated, fractured.
I can’t work out how to take the door off so that I can replace the hinge pivot. Maybe all I need to do is leave the door half attached and take out the door assembly ? I have had a look at a youtube video telling how to remove most types of oven door – but none of the hinges seems to be quite like the Diplomat hinge!
Can anyone help – perhaps tell me where I can find an instruction manual or describe how to do it. I tried putting a nail in one of the hinge holes to lock the hinge but I still couldn’t figure out how the door was supposed to come off. Needless to say a certain person thinks I’m a complete waste of space if I can’t even take the cooker door off!
Any help, hints gratefully received !December 26, 2009 at 10:13 pm #307184Penguin45

The repair kit is HERE.
The trick is to use two thin screwdivers through the hole in each upper (moving) hinge bar. This locks the mechanism and the door can be lifted up off the lower rods. A fair bit of force may be required…..

Hi Penguin,
Many thanks for a very quick and snappy response. Could you possibly help me a bit more? Do I need to undo the screws in the door around the pivot fixing point ? If not, I can’t understand how the door is separated from the oven without mangling the housing in the door as it tries to hold onto the pivot bar threaded through the spring loaded hinge.
Many thanks in anticipation of further guidance.

Looking at the pic in the repair kit, the door sits on the two rods pictured top left. The door is a push fit onto them. You have to lift the door up and off. Simple, honest.
