Hi there all hope you all had very merry christmases and happy new years.
Is anybody interested in making me an offer and using this app for spares etc, it has all the shelves, water tank, doors etc. And I have a spare control board (fits in the top)
if anybody is interested post back here or post me a message. I am somewhat loathe to just dump it and I have a feeling that someone who knows exactly what they are doing and with the right tools may be able to get this up and running, would also be suitable as a large beer fridgeLet me know

Excellent thank you so much for this post I’m a second visit in for the same problem, so far they’ve changed the pcb board and sensor cut off lead. I think i’ll cut my losses and get a cheaper one. I was of the same opinion as you, in that it’s only 4yrs old and cost me nearly £500!
Cheers Dawn

Hi
As already stated..The problem is the defrost heater..Not the PCB,Very rarely the sensor.
If the appliance gets down to temprature. This normally takes 3-6 hours.Every 8 hours the unit goes into a defrost where the heaters turn on and defrost the evaperator.IF the defrost sensor DOES NOT sense a temprature of +17oc then the unit will STAY in defrost until it does or you switch off and back on again.By switching it off you are resetting the main PCB and restarting the 8 hr cycle again.

It amazes me that folk are quite happy to throw away an appliance that’s only 3 1/2 years old
WAKE UP PEOPLE….if the “engineer” is out of his depth, it will be little more than luck if it gets fixed.FIND ANOTHER ENGINEER!…..Bryan pointed the way for Keith, who, IMO, should have cut his losses and called Bryan….problem sorted.
If the garage can’t fix a fault in your car, you seek a second opinion…..likewise if you’re ill and the GP can’t diagnose, he gets a second opinion.
-so why, oh why, do you think that bashing your head against the same brick wall will cure things

Hi,
I have the same problem, it started last night or stopped should I say !!, I have stripped the front electrical display and pcbs down and will check the pins out to the defrost heater when it stops working again,
Good advice from R600a,
will let you know later if this is the problem.

Hi Twinpipe
Dont touch the PCB !! Work from the heater itself.

Hi,
It tripped again last night, stopped on defrost, I removed the panel at back of freezer to investigate further,
There was a heater top left corner in the plactic cover – looks to be working ok,
down the right hand side of the Evap is a couple of wires and a sensor hidden in the evap, I presume this is the defrost sensor ? could this be at fault ?

If your not sure of what these are then you shouldnt be doing this.Disconnect the heater and see if it trips off.

My explaination was not very well put, it stopped cooiling, it did not trip the power and just stopped on defrost,
Whats the wires going into the evap ?
How many heaters are in the Fridge / Freezer ? as the one in the Freezer was working.

I have, you say it will be the defrost heater, I take it the defrost heater is built into the Evap, this sounds a costly fix ?
Will I need an engineer to replace this part, I take it, it needs the refrigerant removed, evap replaced and recharged ?
How much do you think it will cost to have the Heater/Evap replaced ?
Thanks,

Hi
If the engineer knows what they are doing then its a simple job,the heater is a seperate part and would not require a system engineer, part cost is less than £45.
