I basically want to know if the W5740 will check the water temp using a sensor and switch the heating element on and off automatically?

the reason I ask is Im currently use a TMV, mixing down to about 35C, to feed the machine from our 250L DHW tank that during the summer is heated by solar PV.

my thinking on this is it must help to reduce the electrical energy used as long as the machine is sensing the warm water rather than just using a timer.

    It will do, yes.

However the amount of electricity you will save for your efforts is minuscule and it will impact wash performance detrimentally.

Watch your clothes shrink as they gently rinse in hot water. 😯

Wash anything delicate in that temperature though and you may well destroy it.

Wool, silk and other delicate or natural fibres will not like it and even some cottons cannot be washed in water over 30?C.

Asides which as Martin rightly points out, rinsing with hot is not good at all as it’s cold water that breaks down foam and it’s not good for clothing and it’s extremely wasteful.
