I was having a dig around today and found a Phillips 082 variomatic module, brand new in its box, also 3 brand new indesit 16P type modules and an Indesit L series pump repair kit! What some rubbish I keep….!
Talking of which, When I was working self employed we used to run a 1970 Morris Mini van until the Escort 75 took over, We still have the mini van even now. 😆December 18, 2006 at 5:53 pm #195517iadom

Martin, clip is from the lower end of the connecting rod that went from the ‘flip up’ control flaps to the base mounted switches on a Hotpoint Countess wringer machine.

Spot on Jim, you win a mince pie!
I’ll stick one in the post. 😉
I wonder if Alex can shed any light on the 2 special screws? 😉 😉

Did someone call? Sorry must have been asleep.
Holds the chromed fasia/bezel in place on the 3224 keymatic. The screws go in on the ends. Wish I still had my old blue manuals and I would have given you the part number.

Correct! 😀
He may be getting old but his memory hasn’t faded. 8)
On the manuals by the way Alex, I still use my original Hoover blue binders to store my old Hotpoint manuals, oddly enough! 😉

Oh dear, by replying to this I am admitting to being an “old codger”
The screws are off The Hoover 3224 / 3226 sloping door keymatic, and held the chrome plated fascia panel, one screw at each side going in horizontaly……
The clip is off the switch rod that ran from the operating flap, to the heater or motor switch on the Hotpoint Countess, and held the rod on the switch operating arm. These clips were used on many other engineering applications, not only washing machines.Chris

Don’t admit to being an old codger, when two other golden oldies have already exposed themselves, metaphorically speaking of course. 😆
Last few words added to save Greg from digging out his “Oh Matron”, Kenneth Williams picture again. 😛

Those clips hold the door mechanism rods together on my 1967 Wolseley.

No I didnt get a clue from Alex and your posts, I really do remember these parts, and whats more The part number for the screws is 629348 because I still have my blue cover Hoover binder full of “useless” oldies diagrams of many hoover appliances of the time.I got the manuals when I attended the Hoover training session at the Hoover depot, then at team valley trading estate, Gateshead, when the 3224 first came out, I was then a fresh faced young sprog working in the appliance dept of F.W.Johnson and sons, of Tynemouth (long since gone). Ah the good old days……..
Talking of old machines, I have a Beaty washing machine which I have restored, I display it in the window of my shop. It was a part ex from a customer who bought a Hotpoint countess from me in about 1970! she claimed that she bought it in about 1940, and to her knowledge she was the first person in Newcastle to own an electric washer. (true ?)
I have researched some of the history of Beaty Bros., Canada, on the web, and have found some interesting info on them. They even made one powered by a small petrol engine !!!
Lets stop there before I get carried away.
Chris
