    Hi all,
I have an built in gas oven

    from vatti,
but with all the power failures I am considering replacing the set with a free-standing gas stove.
I need some advice, I am not too sure about the gas oven? Does it bake and do the job as nice as an electric oven? Thanks.

The dry heat that an electric oven gives allows a much wider range of excellent baking and roasting results. The moist vapour of gas ovens has greater limits and baking and roasting often takes much longer to cook. At one time heating by gas was the much cheaper fuel over electricity but with the advent of the more efficient fan ovens these days cooking buy electrics is far cheaper. The major problem with gas however is the safety aspect. Gas appliances need above all else greater ventilation. Gas vapours need to escape quickly and the gas flame needs airflow to burn without creating the deadly carbon monoxide fumes. Therefore the rules and regulations controlling where a gas appliance can be located is very strict and limiting.

Overall the modern electric fan oven wins hands down! 😀

Also neff do an oven where you can have a small amount of steam injected whilst cooking, its called aqua assist, works very well and food is not dried out at all
