ParticipantBeko DE 2542 FW, 12 years old.
I did a washing which seemed to complete (I say this because the dishes are squeaky clean and there is no water sloshing around in the dishwasher), but the pump kept going (I say this because it sounded like a pump going) for over two hours. And there is a faint smell of overheated electrical equipment in my kitchen.
What can I do? Is it fixable?

Moderatorthe anti flood system has triggered. dont let it run, turn it off
in the base of the machine, where the motor and works are is a float that detects water. The unit has leaked into the base so it need mopping out
if it does it again you need to find out why

Moderatorfirst thing you can try is pull the machine out . plug out
Then gently and not too quickly tilt the machine back till its at about 45 degrees. you should see water start to leak on your floor so be ready for this. The reason we need to do it slowly is we dont want the water getting at some of the electrics
After you have done this try the machine

ParticipantI tried removing the big square stainless steel filter at the bottom of the internal compartment, then stuck a towel down the two-inch diameter hole underneath that was exposed. The towel soaked up some water. When I switch the machine on it went straight back to that noise that sounds like the pump.
Then I did something like you advise above before reading your advice: (1) plug out; (2) shut of water feed at the tap; (3) remove water feed hose and disconnect drain house. I had to do this to get the machine out far enough to investigate; (3) tipped it sideways in both directions slowly, quite lot of water came out; (4) plugged in the mains electricity, the lights on the front came on in a normal way and the noise of the pump did not happen. I don’t want to try a test cycle because the water feed and drain hoses are disconnected.
Seems to me that it might be temporarily fixed? Or if there is no major leak then fixed for quite a while?

ParticipantThe machine did a cycle all the way to “dry”, that was when I noticed the puddles on the kitchen floor!
I then found out that the drain hose had a huge crack and was leaking badly. Is it a big job to replace the drain hose, it seems to clip in somehow? Could a smaller leak in the drain hose have caused the problem in the first place?
Many thanks for you advice and guidance.

It seems a bit odd that it has a dark inking stain, and to me it looks as if it may be a cartridge for a fountain pen? Is it recognisable as something from within a dishwasher?
does look like a fountain pen refill
hose you need should be this onehttps://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/1740160300-dishwasher-drain-hose
