ParticipantIn the absence of the drop down door, and any double glazed door in front of the main glass, how hot does the door glass get on 60 degree and 95 degree washes?
Are there any regulations regarding how hot the door glass can get re small children putting their hands or face on them? Or does the door glass not get too hot due to the low levels of water?

KeymasterDoesn’t get that hot Andy. Certainly not warm enough to even remotely scald.
Plus, the older versions were available without the drop down door. 😉

That’s good. I would have been very surprised if it did get hot enough to be a hazard for toddlers but it was just a thought that crossed my mind as something to double check on.

Are there any regulations on the subject btw? I know in the late 80s or early 90s every manufacturer started putting double glazing on their doors which I assumed was after incidents or complaints. However, the ubiquitous central heating radiator gets very hot and clearly there’s no issue there.

KeymasterNot so far as I know, no.

That was mainly on washer dryers though. 😉

I thought it was fitted on all washers, Hoover’s and Hotpoint’s at least. It started on Eco washers for Hoover and as far as I remember all New Wave and Classica models had a double glazed door.

KeymasterMore for style I think Andy, like the Electrolux range at about that time with the dark “glass” doors on them, basically a Zanussi with sunglasses on as we called them.
