If the WTA were able to source a meter specifically for Whitegoods repairers what features would people like on it ?
    I would like Ktype Probe
    Insulation
    Continuity
    Big screen
    Robust rubber case

    Re: Domestic Appliance Meter

    Hi All

We have the chance to have a meter made with the functions that any engineer wants in one unit. no more carrying around 2/3 meters. This will be from one of the largest manufacturers and will have full technical back up.

    Insulation
    Continuity
K-Type thermostat or normal lead type.
    Loop test
    Rubber case
    large screen
    calibration
    Ect

Its you the users that decide what you want !!. when do meter manufacturers ever ask you what you want ? It’s always been that’s what it has on it..like it or lump it.

    So

Everyone complains that the tool costs are high and having to buy multiple test equipment to do different things but when asked what engineers would like to make it easier and cheaper nobody wants it ?

Sorry I thought the original post was about what features would you like on it rather than would I buy one.
All the features stated are all I would need.

    Re: Domestic Appliance Meter

    Resistance
    Insulation Resistance upto 500v
    Capacitance
    Voltage ac and dc
    Temp

The Uni-T UT530 covers all the above for around £120
or Fluke 1587 for a bigger chunk of money

    Steve,

Wish I’d waited until your post as I just bought an insulation tester a few weeks back. (INS1600 from TLC Direct)

That UT530 is a much better bit of kit.

    Grrr.
