We overloaded the database again. 🙁
High traffic, me not sat at a PC like I should be, BT cocking up lines and broadband and whatnot all saw that the server toppled over this evening. Please accept our apologies for any inconvienence.
We are trying to limit the data use in certain areas to kill this problem now.

Is that why some posts have dissapeared, a post in the public washing machine section from someone who had fried his Hotpoint WMA40 module had a reply from Martin ( I think) that has now gone and a post in the Trade Technical about a Candy D/W had a reply earlier that has now vanished?????
trevor had to restore from last night’s backup sadly, which was taken about 5:00am. So anything after that has (extremely annoyingly) been lost.
We’re disabling some stuff to stop it happening again as it’s a total pain for everyone. But, basically, as I’ve not been at a desk for almost a month with net access some stuff was forgotten by me, so the dbase overflowed and that’s what the error was. I have also taken other measures to try to stop this ever happening again as that’s about the third time in two years.
The problem is lessened still further when I get David trained up for admin as well as Dave and myself, I’ll explain that one in a bit.

All posts from around 4am (when the back up is run) will have been lost permanently.
Had it not been for the back up system, all posts since day one would have also gone.
It’s a royal PITA to be honest, basically the site database got overloaded and it just shuts down saying “no more info”….
We are making steps to stop it happening again though as a lot of the “admin” stuff uses huge chunks of the database which we should be able to downsize.
Again, appologies for the loss of the posts 🙁

Yes a full eleven minuets actually Dave, you should be horse whipped.
but then again knowing you, you would probably enjoy it ! 😆The site being offline is as you say a royal PITA., I suppose to some degree it is a victim of it’s own success and popularity. But hey as we all know, sh*t happens.
